World Wide Knit In Public Day-2009

Get your hooks and needles out. This month for all yarn lovers and crafty crocheters and knitters-we are celebrating World Wide Knit In Public Day. It's also not exclusively for just knitters, crocheters are welcome. I'm in fact is a crocheter. Taught by my grandmother and older sis, by the way.
This year WWKIP is being celebrated for 2 weekends in June this year. The holiday is usually held on only one Saturday in June. It also depends on whose hosting it. They pick the time, place and other activities for the event. So this year WWKIP is being celebrated on these dates, one which has already passed. That was, June 13 & 14, 2009 [Saturday & Sunday]. The last one is going to be tomorrow June 20 & 21, 2009. For a schedule or if you would like to find out if a WWKIP is being hosted near you, go here: www.wwkipday.com. Tomorrow I plan to attend a World Wide Knit In Public and crochet to my hearts content.
So those of you who knit and/or crochet, grab your knitting needles, crochet hooks, your yarn(s) and your (WIP's) 'work in progress' along with your sister, grandmother and mother-or maybe your husband. O.K. yeah right. Like the men are actually gonna come out and sit and knit with us gals. But hey who knows, they are men who knits or crochets. They make really nice things to, really they do. Bet you all didn't know that Rosie Grier knits. Also check out Lion Brand Notebook Blog here. Scroll down to the heading; "More Famous Men Knitting: Cary Grant" and you will be amazed. You can find it here, www.blog.lionbrand.com.
If you can't make it to a hosted WWKIP or one is not near you. Crochet or knit in public right in your front yard. Or if your going out some where take your needles and/or hooks with you and work on your project if you get a chance or waiting on or for someone. Another idea also is go to a Starbucks, a local book store-like Barnes & Nobles, a park or a (LYS) Local Yarn Store and knit/crochet there. All of those places count as public. You'll be amazed at how much on-lookers you'll and people asking questions.
Knitting, crocheting yarn crafting, crafting in general or even baking are all hobbies and pasttimes that we enjoy and it helps us to destress, relax and calm our minds. It's actually a gift to be able to these things, because it really helps us to enjoy life. So whatever craft or hobby you like to do, take the time or a day for that matter and celebrate the joy you get out of it. Actually I recommend we should do it everyday, but for those who can't meet that quota, at least do it once a month. Enjoy Life, and enjoy Serenity.
Have a "Happy World Wide Knit (and Crochet) In Public Day" this weekend.
Peace & Love everybody

"Daily Life" Quote For The Week

Scratch This Off My List of Summer Dreams

O.K. Remember the top 10 things on my list of things to do or get for the sommer. (Post entitled "Summer Dreams" below.) Well scratch the movie "Chocolat" off my list. I got it. Today we went to -Barnes and Nobles- and I bought it. that's me below, happy to have got it. Tonight, after a good bath I'll be watching that movie.

Here we come Barnes & Noble. I love this book store and of course Books-A-Million. I can live in these places. My mother and my son going in this great grand of a bookstore. I especially love Barnes&Nobles, because it has DVD's and I think in my opinion more choices than Books-A-Million. Like I said, I can get lost in this store. Reading is one of my favorite past times.

That's my mother, and she's ready to shop. She's a reader of many books herself, I'm assuming that's where I got that from. Oh, I forgot-my sister is a book worm to, it runs hard in the genes.

So what summer books are any of you plan to read? Is anyone planning a Summer Book Club? If so, let me know what your group is planning to read. I'm always interested in what people are currently or just recently read.

Peace & Love

Summer Dreams

Ten top things I want this summer or want to do are...

1. Make more money.
2. Take a relaxing vacation on the beach, and feel the sand beneath my feet.
3. Get my business website going (that's why I need to make more money).
4. Read all the books that I bought that's sitting on my shelf saying, "me next, me next."
5. Get out of the slump and work on my novel.
6. Make a big, and wonderful decadent sundae.
7. Loose about 20 lbs. (Definitely.)
8. Buy the movie Chocolat starring Johnny Depp. (I know-but I like that movie).
9. Finish my Aromatherapy Course-it is a lot of studying and work to do. ("Come on brain, you can do it, hang in there.")
10. Last but not in the slightest least-throw myself an appreciation dinner party. Hey, I've been through a lot, I would say I humbly deserve it. ;)

What's your summer dreams?

Hope everyone has a safe and bless summer.

WHO ARE YOU?

I love to read, and I love the movies that film-makers and producers make or adapt to the big screen from these books. I have the book "Little Women" and the movie. I have the movie "Pride & Prejudice," but I don't have the book. The novels are really nice, down-to-earth and both writer's relate their fiction books to real life experiences and they portray a lot of themselves and their families in the stories they write. In Pride & Prejudice, I see myself as Elizabetth Bennet. Elizabeth had seem to had her own mind and she wasn't always the one to follow tradition in her time or era. She also didn't marry for money, as that was the custom for back then around the 1800's or so. For women during that time and in England couldn't own any property. Only the men, so women had the security of their husbands, and if they weren't married-they had to depend on the generosity of male relatives if both their parents weren't alive. Wasn't that some kind of law? Frankly I hate it, good thing I wasn't born during that era. As for Elizabeth, I liked her independence and boldness to live life as how she dictated it, and not what society dictated to her.Louisa May Alcott wrote many books. Her book entitled, Little Women, was surrounded with 4 sisters. From oldest to youngest in this story was; Meg-character of the home-maker; Jo-spirited and non-traditional; Beth-quiet and docile; and Amy-wanted to marry rich. Alcott portrayed her youngest sister as a painter in the book and indeed she was in real life. In fact, her little sister did illustrate her book of "Little Women." Who am I in "Little Women?" I would say Jo of course. Again, here is a character that is independent, doesn't flow with society and is spirited and owns who she is. Not to mention as Alcott was a writer-she wrote herself as Jo, and Jo was a writer in the story of Little Women. So it is with me-I love to write, I'm working on a book currently and one more to follow. So I really identify myself a lot with Jo March in the March Family of "Little Women." Oh yes I forgot to mention that her story took place in Concord, Massachusetts-a great New England State. Miss Alcott also lived there in real life as well. for more information on these GREAT WOMEN WRITERS, google Louisa May Alcott and Jane Austen. There are tons of great information and educational material on them. I admire these women, because they were ahead of their time and I really, truly like the fact that they OWN who they were as women and they own what they were good at. There independence was their rule and not anyone elses or the whole of society for that matter. They stood up for the good of who they were and they did not sacrafice their morals and yet-they were bold, educated and in my book as what I would call them which for today is a valuable and prominent compliment-they were great Divas in their time.

Who Are You today? Who do you identify with, and no matter what girls own yourself and walk proudly in it. Own that your talents and personality, who you are and satisfied with is what makes you great women of your time. Own your Divaness.

Definition of diva: Diva-(My personal meaning, mind you) someone who is good, prominent, dominant, and intelletually-talented in whatever they do and no there place in that postion they carry is a diva. You could be a mom of a diva, business owner of a diva, wife of a dive, etc. Whatever it is your good at-I mean the best, your a diva in your own right. I'm a diva at being different, I don't 100% of the time go with the flow of society. I make my own tradtions and I'm a diva of poetry. I love to write poems and I revell, live and I am strong in it.

What Diva are you? I salute you today and all the great women of our time that broke the mold and became independent personalities of who we are, and becoming what we desire-benefiting those to only do good for ourselves and those who are among us. I salute my mom, she is the reason who I am today, I make my own traditions-benefiting the good of myself and others.

Peace & Love Divas
Own it and Live it.

A Mean Customer

I guess every now and then we meet up with mean and inconsiderate customers. I mean I try not to get upset with people when they say things out of ignorance. But ya'll I end up having an arguement with one. This particular customer came by after shop hours, actually in fact I was already closed. I have my close sign up on the door too in big bold CAPITOL letters. This customer just wanted to simply ignore this and have his way and still wanted to open up.

Me: I'm closed.
customer: Well I'm here now, you can still open and let me buy something.
Me: No, I'm closed.
customer: You ain't that busy that you have to be close.
Me: Don't tell me whether I'm busy or not, it's none of your business what I do.

See this is the thing everybody, it was the principle of the fact that when I say I'm closed, and just because this customer stopped by I was suppose to open up the shop for that customer. This customer wanted their own way, and wanted me to open up whenever they came. It didn't matter when I was closed. Well do I ban this customer from my premises? It's just the principle of the whole thing of consideration. I really don't want to serve this person anymore.
It really ticked me off also because they even had the nerve to try to put me dow and degrade me. I was furious. I'm going to be opening an online store soon. This incident has
really motivated me to move forward to do that, full speed ahead. Dealing with customers can be really a pain. At least with an online store, If there are any meanies, I don't have to deal with them face to face.

So I need some advice, do I ban this customer from premise, or do I firmly lay down the law. I really don't want to deal with this customer again.

Peace and Love

Monday's Circle Time Again

These pictures are in no particular order or have a theme. They are random. Here's a picture of my favorite past time. As many of my reader's no, I love yarn and I love to crochet. Here's my basket of yarn-this is my yarn stash. Did I tell you, I love yarn.

This is an afghan (blanket if you will) that I'm crocheting for myself for the next cold months coming. My grandmother and sister taught me how to crochet when I was a little girl.
The stitches above is called, "aligned shells." It's so easy to make.

Here below is a lap throw I'm working on to sell in my shop. These stitches that I'm Crocheting are called, "Palm Leaves." I love them, I think this is my favorite. I'm trying to stock up on a lot of crocheted lap throws for the winter. People really tend to buy these up in my shop.Right here below is a centerpiece I made to sell in my shop. It can be a centerpiece for a wedding reception or a banquet. I call this art work, "Paradise Garden." It just brings peace and sootheness to mind when you look at it.

These are some of my hand-made jewelry that I make and sell in my store as well. These are going to be sold at my Mother's Day Extraveganza Sale.

Some more necklaces that customers will hopefully buy for Mother's Day. What mother doesn't like jewelry.

Here's my table of goodies set up in the shop. There are a lot of variety things I sell. I make my own natural spa product. In a set I make the bath beads, soap and the lotion to fo with it. Studying Aromatherapy sure does come in handy when adding the fragrances to these spa products. Not only do they smell good, but they are good for you-very health beneficial. Like the Lavendar-it helps one to relax and destress. Who wouldn't love that.
Here's my brother working on our fence. He's so hard at work, he didn't know that I got a picture of him. About ready for the summer.

So what's your favorite past time? And what did you do during the weekend?
Have a Happy Monday everybody, and what happen in your circle?
Peace & Love,
Treasure Ann

Circle Time

We all remember circle time in school right. Circle time was when we were in grade school and the teacher would have everyone gather in a circle to share a story, a favorite toy, talk about their favorite pet, or even share pictures. Here's some of my pictures I like to share with you. Right here, we're getting ready for the summer. Cleaning up the yard and planting flowers.

Anybody ready for summer picnics? I am, we plan cook outs quite a bit during the summer and I'm gearing up for the upcoming ones we'll be having. This picnic table has many cook outs under it's bench (belt).

Putting up the fence adds more privacy for family gatherings.

More fences, and more clearing away for a nice private backyard barbecue.

I think it's so naturisc. I love it back here, and the scenery just put you in a peaceful mood. It actually stays cool in this area all summer long. Yay, cool summers, thanks to the wonderful trees.

Right here, we're exploring Myrtle Beach. These are some home homes in that area. Beautiful, aren't they?

Here's my son at McDonalds. Getting ready to eat a Big Mac, yum.

Here's one of my creations. It's a crocheted Granny Square purse. I had fun making this.
Last, but not least. This is the beautiful Easter Lily, my father gave me for Easter. Thank you, Dad. You know I loved it.

That's my show and tell. What do you all have to share for Circle time? What plans have any of you conducted lately? Share, share, it's circle time. In any event, have fun while you go forward with your plans and goals. Love, ya'll and peace out.

Peace & Love,

Treasure Ann

Health Specialist Consultant-Me & Health Info.

I'm studying to become a Certified Health Specialist, and I have been asked by a Vitamin Shoppe employee to do some consulting at their health fair this Saturday. My courses include Nutritional Herbology, Nutritional Supplements, Aromatherapy and so forth. It's an exciting program, and I've already finished one course. I'm happy to say, that I got an "A" in my Nutritional Herbology course, yay. I still got a few more courses to go, but it's worth it. Can't wait to graduate.

Have any of you ever shop at Vitamin Shoppe? or GNC, I love their products.
I'm also curious about how do any of you feel about prescription drugs vs. Natural Alternative medicine.

Here's an experience I've had: I was taking some antibiotics for a UTI and the first prescription wasn't doing me any good. The doctors prescribed a stronger drug, still didn't help all of sudden people, I was already on 4 different antibiotics. They still didn't help. The antibiotics was covering the symptoms but not the source of my health problem. My mother you know from the old school and studied about herbs and nutritional supplements told me to take probiotic www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probiotic Whlie the antibiotic was killing the bad bacteria in my body, it was also killing out my good ones to, thus making me sicker. The probiotic has live good bacteria, and by taking that I was putting good bacteria in my body, thus fighting off the and killing the bad ones. I also needed a good cleansing and detox. I've since then recover and thank God has not had another UTI flare up.

For more information on Natural Alternative medicine and information of herbs, nutritional supplement, and aromatherapy go here: www.westernbotanicals.com

Stay Healthy everybody, I'm trying to work on my health-it's not easy, but again, it's worth it.

Peace & Love everybody,

Treasure Ann

On The Eve of Easter

This is what I've been doing on the eve of Easter Sunday. I baked a chocolate sheet cake with vanilla frosting, walnuts and coconut spread on the top. I had to cut a few pieces and tasted it. It was so good, my son liked it pretty much as well. Easter egg coloring time. A tradition I held since I was a little girl. Never missed a year coloring eggs. My little niece us usually my little helper, but she had other plan with her friends. so I was alone to do this job. Don't worry-it wasn't hard, I enjoy doing this every year.

When the eggs are all colored and done, I usually put together an Easter basket for everyone in my family. I add little knick knack things like small minature Easter snicker candy and a few other treats.
Aren't these eggs colorful. The pink one is my favorite.

I wanted to throw this picture in. She's my little niece puppy. Her name is Princess. Boy oh boy, she looks innocent in this picture, but she is a handful and very tricky. But she is sweet.

My other tradition that I do on the Easter holiday is watch the, "The Ten Commandments," which comes on every year for Easter. I'm watching it while I color the eggs. I'm having fun. Have a great Easter and Spring break everybody. Enjoy the wonderful nature that God has blessed us with especially the wonderful colorful flowers that adorns our planet with it's beauty.
Peace & Love Everybody.

Whats For Dinner? and A Special Surprise!

What's for dinner at your house today? I've decided to fry chicken, fresh cooked broccoli with rice, and of course for dessert, Lemon Cake. Yum, yum. I hadn't had fry chicken for so long, I just had to cook some. Because I starved myself from it for a while, I was greedy and got seconds.

I cooked the broccoli in salt water and added a tsp. of butter. Cooked it to where it was still crunchy. OMG it was delicious. Then the best part I had for dinner was my dessert. It was o.k., but it could have been better (lemon cake). I have to keep working on this cake, so that it would come out better each time. But I heard no complaints from my son, so it must have been good.

Now for my "special surprise."
Looky, looky ya'll. I recieved a fun, exciting and delicious package in the mail recently and it was a treat for me. My good friend L from A Dozen Eggs sent me this wonderful gift. It was a lot of different shapes and colors of sugar cookies. OMG it was sooooo good. I did manage to share some with my son, brother, and niece. I could actually be a hog about it. Thank you, thank you so much L. It really brought a smile to my face as I have been going through and dealing with some challenging things in my life. You don't know how MUCH that meant to me. You are a such a good friend. I really appreciate this thoughtful gift. Oh BTW, I love those chocolate sugar cookies. They taste really good. Thank you sweet L.
To all my blog land friends thanks so much for your support and care. I know I haven't met any of you, but I send out my love to you all. You all are a great group of gals. L, Fawn, Jill, Aubrey, my sis J-everybody who has touched my life in a blessed and caring way. Thank you all.
Now, I still want to know, what did you all had for dinner, I especially want to know about your desserts. Please name the desserts, that's always my favorite.

Toodles everybody until next time.

3. Beautiful Sweets www.beautifulsweets.com
2. Loving Sullivan Cakes www.cakepower.com
