White Texas Sheet Cake

First time I've tried this cake. It calls for sour cream, and when I read that I had a feeling it would turn out moist. Between sour cream and buttermilk, it is like the secret ingredient for making baked good come out moist. I got the recipe out of my Taste of Home Baking Book and it is a really easy recipe. It took no time for me prepare the ingredients and the cake only bakes for about 20-22 minutes-depending on you oven's temperature.

This picture came out blurry, but it tastes better than it looks.
I love sheet cakes, because all you have to do is make the batter and spread the frosting.

Sheet cakes are great to make especially if you want to whip up something sweet really quick.

Don't get me wrong though, I love to challenge myself on complicated recipes and others that you have to be detailed about, that's where the fun is.

But sheet cakes still are #1 on my list to do as well. The frosting is made up of powdered sugar, and walnuts were added in them.
DELISH!!!
Have any of you ever wanted something sweet and wanted to bake up something quick to eat? Tell me, what are some quick homemade treats to bake? and what are your favorite cookbooks? I may go out and find it to buy. My favorite is in the picture above, "The Taste of Home Baking Book." I 'm always, most of the time trying something out of that book, more than the others I have, and believe you me, I have quite a lot.
Peace and Love,
Treasure Ann

Basic Yellow Cake with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting

Since today was a historic and special day, I wanted to celebrate President Barack Obama's Inaugruation Ceremony. My menu was Lasagna, cooked broccoli and cauliflower. Of course for dessert, I baked a simple yellow cake by scratch-no box and lemon cream cheese frosting. Here's the finished product, which I think in my opinion tasted pretty good. My son loved it, and wanted to get a second helping.

Don't mind the squiqqly purple lines on the cake, I just wanted to try to decorate it and make it pretty so it won't look so plain. It didn't work out the way I thought it would. So I guess I'll cancell trying to be a cake decorator. Oh yeah, here's a picture of my business liscense, I was so excited to start my own business. I hope that it will be doing well in the months and years to come.
Here's the recipe for the Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting.
Ingredients:
*1 8-oz. package cream cheese
*1 stick margarine or butter
*1 box powdered sugar
*1 tsp of lemon extract (or if you fancy vanilla, that would be 1 tsp vanilla)
~Cream the magarine or butter and cream cheese in a bowl. Add the lemon extract (flavoring). Sift the powdered sugar and add to creamed mixture gradually. Spread on top of cake layers.
I hope everyone had a good day and let's not forget to pray for our new president. Hope you all try the cream frosting, it also goes well on cupcakes. What are your favorite desserts. You know, I heard that your favorite dessert says a lot about a person's personality. Hmm, is that really true? Until next time, peace everybody.

What I Did Today

Before we get to what I did today, this is a just a little viewing of my shop. Which by the way until I can affford a building is in my home. I get occassional loyal customers, but I do hope word and my advertising of my business will attract more customers.
Yep, I sell retail, and these are just a few items I sell. Of course I have to stock up for Valentines, that holiday a real busy for businesses.
As you can see I do handmade craft items, which people love, and I have gotten quite a few orders for crocheted wash cloths, and jewelry.

Here's some more items, ready to sell.

O.K. Here's what I've been doing today. Making heart shaped iced sugar cookies. I just wanted to practice frosting them. It's beginning to get easy, when I keep up with them. There not the best or professional looking cookies, not like L, but practice makes perfect.

I wanted to do all kinds of styles of decorating and my favorite would be the half of heart with two different colors or designs. I still haven't got the hang of the piping bag. So I took the easy way out and used the Wilton plastic bottle. I tried following the directions on the back of the box with the piping bags, but hey I'm a novice to this. It's going to take some time for me to get it. I'm not giving up, so I'll let you all know how it works out when I get the hang of it.

During this coldness, what have all of you did today, or what will you all do tomorrow?

Have fun, and enjoy life.

Oh Yeah

I almost forgot, these are some of the baked goods that I will be baking to give as gifts. The baked goods will be the last of my Christmas gift giving. I will be baking some Fruit Cake Bars, and Pecan-Pie Cookies. I've been making these for the past 4 years and have giving them out for Christmas gifts. People seem to really love them, so I keep making them.

The Fruit Cake Bars will be a different recipe I'll be trying this year. A lot of people I know and in my family really loves Fruit Cake, so some of them will be getting those.

Oh yeah, let me say to my brother Happy Birthday, and may you have many blessed more. My brother loves dogs so this fitting for him.
O. K. back to the baking. The other baked goods that I may be baking, which is kinda of iffy. Gingerbread boys and girls or I may make some chocolate covered peanuts. I haven't decided yet which one I will do. These will be Christmas favors to give out to guests when they get ready to leave after visiting. So what are you all baking as Christmas gifts? Is it a traditional recipe, or a different one? Get those recipes ready though ladies, we only have 7 days until Christmas. enjoy your Holidays and have lots of fun baking, making, and buying your gifts while you take time with your family.

Here's a tidbit of information about me that you didn't know. I have lots to celebrate every year in December. My siblings will be getting a baked goods as a birthday gift from me. They always love it. Here's the tidbit:

BAKE SALE

Alright, a bake sale yeah! I'm planning a bake sale, and Its a lot of work. I'm going to have a variety of cookies, but I want to bake something that's going to really attract customers. So if any of you have an idea of a great cookie recipe let me know. I'm really doing this bake sale for the fun and well for some extra cash to make. I need to build up my funds for my growing business. It's just sort of taking a while and it's been slow. I'm patient though, at one time I thought about giving up. I mean I even thought about turning in my Business Liscense. I'm just having a time trying to figure out the best way to advertise, and attract people to what I'm selling.
I even narrowed down my products and now I'm trying to only streamline my natural soaps, charm bracelets, and decorative totebags. These totebags are not handmade by me, I just only customize it and personalize it, and then sell it. The other products I'm going to work on is making business cards and brochures for businesses. We'll see how that goes, hopefully it will go well. I hope this bake sale will bring in revenues of potential loyal cutomers as well, when they see some of my products and use them. My goal for this bake sale is to raise enough money to open up a business bank account and get more supplies to make the products I'm offering.
So if you have any business advice (how to boost sells, advertising, etc.), breath-taking recipes (anything different, mouthwatering, etc.) it is much appreciated. I believe I'm going to give my self at least 2 years for my business Bountiful Treasures to get up off the ground. It'll be a certain financial goal I'll set to see if it gets there within that 2 years. If I don't see it happens , well I'll have to move on to something else. I will definitely be disappointed if it doesn't work, becasue having my own business was always a dream since I've been a little girl. Let's hope and pray it does work out. It's not easy starting a business, but I do like what I do making jewelry and soaps. It's really great and fun, maybe that's what has me to continue to keep going.
I do hope my bake sale comes through for the financial goal I have set. I am excited about it and can't wait to start baking. What I have so far to bake is everybody's favorite; chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter and oatmeal cookies. I will be doing whoopie pie sandwich cookies, and these cookies call snowball cookies. I tweaked the recipe a little, but everybody loves them who tried them. I will be baking brownies to. Oh yeah, I'm not sure, but I thought about doing cupcakes with Christmas decorations on top. What do you think? Should I do the cupcakes or leave them out. Your answer will determine whether I do it or not. Thank ya'll. I'll show you picks of them if the vote is yes, but I will still get some pics of the other baked goods I bake anyway. My Bake Sale is scheduled to be on December 13/Saturday. Hope it will be a success.
Don't forget girls, get those oven cranked up and those decorations flowing. Hey anybody out there doing a Christmas Cookie Exchange? I'm just interested. If you are let me know, I'd like to do a post about your get togethers and Christmas parties-dedicated to you. With your permission to copy your pictures along with the post I will do a themed Christmas Cookie and Party post. Exciting!!! So let me know whats up.
Until next time, I'm going to work on some more Christmas gifts.
Happy Holidays,
Treasure Ann
